Specialized Project Manager II (Backup Power Programs)
Job Summary
Our client, an energy and utilities provider, is seeking a Specialized Project Manager II to support critical backup power initiatives within a large-scale Wildfire Mitigation Program. This role is responsible for managing programs that provide backup power solutions to critical facilities, overseeing customer engagement, vendor coordination, financial management, regulatory compliance, and project execution. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory requirements.

- Work Model: Hybrid
- 52-week contract opportunity through September 2027

Core Responsibilities
- Manage medium to large-scale projects from planning through execution and completion
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies
- Oversee backup power solution projects serving critical facilities and community resource centers
- Coordinate customer engagement activities and installation oversight efforts
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, invoices, and project deliverables
- Track project requirements, milestones, risks, and issue resolution activities
- Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives
- Analyze regulatory impacts and ensure compliance with applicable requirements
- Prepare business cases and recommendations to support program initiatives
- Develop budget forecasts and perform ongoing financial analysis
- Support regulatory and governmental reporting activities as required
- Deliver project updates, presentations, and status reports to leadership
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and program effectiveness
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- Bachelor's degree required
- 2+ years of project or program management experience
- Demonstrated project management strengths, including organization, planning, resource management, and execution
- Experience managing budgets, timelines, contracts, and vendor relationships
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to navigate sensitive customer and regulatory interactions with professionalism and diplomacy
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing project risks and driving issue resolution
- Proficiency creating executive presentations, project documentation, and status reporting
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, or large regulated environments
- Familiarity with wildfire mitigation, distributed energy resources, or backup power programs
- Experience supporting projects with regulatory oversight
- Knowledge of compliance, risk management, and contract administration
- Experience coordinating external vendors, consultants, and contractors

Work Environment
- Location: San Diego, CA
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Schedule: Onsite presence Monday through Thursday, standard business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $43.00 and $62.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
