Database Security Subject-Matter Expert/Technical Lead
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Database Security Subject-Matter Expert / Technical Lead to join their team! This position is located in Bethesda, Maryland.
Duties:
- Secure and monitor enterprise database systems including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and other common database platforms
- Operate web and database vulnerability assessment tools, analyze results, and implement remediation strategies
- Manage large-scale production databases, ensuring secure configuration, patching, and access controls
- Integrate database security solutions with SIEM platforms: Splunk, to monitor and alert on security events
- Develop and maintain database security policies, procedures, and documentation
- Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and remediation planning for database environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to implement enterprise-wide database security standards
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance on secure database administration practices
- Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks and industry best practices for database security
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in database security, database administration, or information security
- 3+ years of experience securing diverse database platforms in enterprise or large-scale environments
- Proven experience managing 1,000+ production databases in enterprise environments
- Hands-on experience with mixed database technologies in enterprise contexts
- Expertise in vulnerability assessment tools and interpreting results to mitigate database risks
- Experience integrating database security tools with SIEM platforms: Splunk
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying and addressing database security issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex database security concepts to technical and executive audiences
- Ability to develop policies, SOPs, and compliance documentation for secure database operations

The approximate pay range for this position is between $95.00 and $125.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
