- Work Arrangement: Full-time Onsite
Core Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop a team of EHS professionals while establishing program strategy and serving as the organization's senior authority on safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management
- Lead the development and implementation of Site-Specific Hazard Mitigation Analyses (SS-HMAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and safe work procedures across R&D, NPI, manufacturing, and field service operations
- Direct compliance programs and audits related to electrical safety, machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and equipment safety standards to ensure adherence to regulatory and industry requirements
- Oversee field service safety programs, including activities related to equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and offsite operations
- Lead emergency preparedness and response initiatives, ensuring effective planning, training, and readiness across operational sites
- Manage environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste handling, chemical inventory management, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) administration, permitting requirements, and regulatory reporting
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and local authorities during inspections, audits, investigations, and compliance reviews
- Develop, implement, and govern EHS training programs to enhance employee awareness, competency, and compliance with applicable safety requirements
- Monitor, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics to senior leadership, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Provide expert guidance to business leaders, managers, and employees on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action initiatives to mitigate risk and prevent recurrence
- Promote and strengthen a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, risk awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 7+ years of EHS experience within a manufacturing, R&D, or energy technology environment
- 2+ years in a dedicated people-management or team-leadership role
- Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8, 29 CFR 1910 (OSHA General Industry), NFPA 70E, RCRA, and California Title 22 hazardous waste regulations
- Proven experience conducting job hazard analyses, arc flash studies, and comprehensive site EHS compliance audits
- Practical experience with hazardous waste classification, characterization, manifest tracking, and managing compliance calendars
- Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels simultaneously within a fast-paced, lean startup environment
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or an equivalent active professional certificatio
- Experience supporting Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), high-voltage power electronics, or utility-scale electrical equipment
- Familiarity with medium-voltage (up to 34.5 kV) electrical safety, including NFPA 70E shock hazard boundaries and safe work practices
- Knowledge of compliance standards such as NFPA 855, IEC 62368-1, or UL 9540
- Specific experience managing BAAQMD permitting, TRI reporting obligations, and Cal/OSHA PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements
- Experience utilizing Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint) and specialized EHS data management software

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $126,000 and $180,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
