Product Designer
Job Summary
Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Product Designer to help evolve a recently launched financial health and wellness platform from MVP to a mature consumer-facing product. This role offers the opportunity to shape the user experience of a growing digital product, driving intuitive and impactful design solutions that enhance customer engagement and satisfaction. The ideal candidate will bring strong digital product design expertise, exceptional UI/UX skills, and experience collaborating closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality digital experiences in an agile environment.
Contract Details
- Contract Length: 10-month contract with potential for extension
- Location: New York, NY
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid.

Core Responsibilities
- Create high-fidelity designs, user flows, prototypes, and detailed specifications for web and mobile experiences
- Design responsive, user-centered interfaces that account for multiple devices, states, and edge-case scenarios
- Partner closely with engineering teams throughout development and QA to ensure accurate implementation and design quality
- Build, maintain, and enhance scalable design system components, patterns, and documentation
- Ensure visual consistency, usability, accessibility, and adherence to design standards across the platform
- Conduct design reviews, identify implementation issues, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve defects
- Design and enhance product features, tools, assessments, calculators, educational experiences, and progress-tracking capabilities
- Leverage user research, analytics, and feedback to identify opportunities for product improvements and optimize user outcomes
- Maintain comprehensive design documentation, specifications, and pattern libraries
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Content Teams, and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle
- Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and roadmap discussions
- Balance immediate product needs with long-term design strategy and future enhancements
- Monitor user engagement, adoption, satisfaction, and performance metrics to inform design decisions
- Translate user needs, business objectives, and research insights into intuitive and effective design solutions
- Advocate for customer-centric design principles and align cross-functional teams around shared product goals
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Interaction Design, HCI, Fine Arts, or related field; equivalent practical experience considered
- 5+ years of digital product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating production-ready work
- Portfolio or case studies required for consideration
- Strong experience designing complex, workflow-driven, data-intensive, or self-service digital products
- Expertise in UX design, interaction design, visual design, and information architecture
- Proficiency with Figma, including components, variables, auto layout, prototyping, and Dev Mode handoff
- Experience using collaborative design tools such as FigJam or Miro
- Strong understanding of responsive design and multi-device experiences
- Experience working directly with software engineers from discovery through implementation and QA
- Experience in Agile product development environments
- Research-driven and data-informed design decision-making skills
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices
- Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills
- Experience designing AI-powered or automated features with awareness of Responsible AI and privacy-by-design principles
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience within financial services, financial wellness, education technology, or highly regulated industries
- Experience designing learning, coaching, guidance, or behavior-change products
- Experience supporting products after launch through continuous enhancement roadmaps
- Familiarity with experimentation, A/B testing, personalization, and optimization strategies
- Experience using qualitative and quantitative research methods to drive product improvements
- Experience with AI-powered recommendation engines, assistive guidance tools, or personalized digital experiences

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $35.00 and $50.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
