Technical Rules and Standards Associate I
Job Summary
Our client, a leading energy and utilities provider, is seeking a Technical Rules and Standards Associate I to join their team. This position will support foundational regulatory compliance activities through documentation, evidence collection, data review, and compliance tracking.
Contract details
- Contract position through August 6, 2027, with the potential to extend for an additional year
- Potential conversion to a full-time position based on performance and future budget availability
- Location: San Diego, California
- Schedule: Fully onsite, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 AM–3:30 PM
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare compliance documentation for regulatory filings, self-certifications, and audit evidence packages
- Review operational logs and technical data to confirm compliance with reliability and security standards
- Maintain compliance tracking tools and organize supporting documentation within evidence repositories
- Gather and validate documentation against regulatory checklists in support of internal audits
- Monitor updates to applicable reliability and security standards and communicate changes to team members
- Follow established procedures for evidence collection, data entry, documentation, and reporting
- Identify and escalate potential compliance gaps to senior team members for resolution
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and completeness
- Experience entering, reviewing, maintaining, or validating technical data and documentation
- Ability to organize and maintain records, files, and evidence repositories
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines and manage time-sensitive assignments
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with Power BI
- Experience with Smartsheet
- Previous exposure to regulatory compliance, technical standards, or audit support
- Experience within the energy, utilities, infrastructure, or another regulated industry
- Familiarity with compliance tracking tools, regulatory checklists, or evidence collection processes
- Experience reviewing operational logs, technical records, or reporting data

Work Environment
- Location: San Diego, CA
- Fully onsite, five days per week
- Standard hours are 6:30 AM–3:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $23.00 and $34.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
