Medical Malpractice Trial Attorney

Job Summary 
Our client a leading Financial Services provider is seeking a Medical Malpractice Trial Attorney to join their team! This position is located in Joliet, Illinois.
  
Core Responsibilities 

• Manage medical malpractice cases from initial review through trial
• Review and analyze medical records to identify negligence and liability
• Develop case strategy, including expert retention and life care planning
• Prepare and attend depositions, pre-trial conferences, and trials
• Draft, file, and manage legal documents in compliance with court procedures and deadlines
• Collaborate with legal teams, paralegals, and stakeholders to ensure effective case management
• Support negotiation and trial strategy to maximize client outcomes

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• 5+ years of litigation experience with trial exposure
• Proven trial experience in medical malpractice cases in Illinois
• Experience achieving verdicts in plaintiff-side litigation
• Active Illinois Bar license
• Strong knowledge of medical malpractice laws, negligence, and duty of care
• Experience reviewing medical records and working with expert witnesses
• Ability to manage cases independently and meet strict deadlines

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) 

• 10+ years of experience as an attorney
• Experience in personal injury or plaintiff-side litigation
• Background transitioning from defense to plaintiff-side litigation
• Experience handling high-value or complex medical malpractice cases
• Familiarity with legal platforms such as LexisNexis, PACER, or Odyssey
• Strong track record of successful trial outcomes
• Experience working in high-volume or fast-paced litigation environments

Work Environment 

• Location: Joliet, IL is preference but will consider other locations for right candidate
• Hybrid for the right candidate 

Compensation & Benefits 

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $125,000 and $200,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
