Our client is seeking a Network Engineer to build, maintain, and support network infrastructure across lab and test environments. This is a hands-on build-and-operate position focused on BGP routing, firewall requests, network provisioning, incident response, and infrastructure changes. The environment includes routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and F5.
Core Responsibilities
- Configure, support, and troubleshoot BGP routing within a multi-vendor network environment
- Process firewall rule requests across Palo Alto platforms
- Complete network provisioning tasks, including IP address allocation, VLAN creation, switch port configuration, and DNS record management
- Troubleshoot network outages, routing problems, connectivity issues, and device failures
- Configure and support Cisco routers and switches through the command line
- Document infrastructure changes and before-and-after validation in Jira
- Maintain device inventory and IP address records in NetBox
- Support firmware upgrades, hardware replacements, and configuration migrations
- Create and update runbooks for recurring network tasks
- Coordinate daily with local and offshore engineering resources
- 1+ years of hands-on networking experience within a lab, Network Operations Center, data center, junior engineering role, or comparable home lab environment
- Hands-on experience configuring, supporting, or troubleshooting BGP routing
- Understanding of BGP fundamentals, including peering, neighbor relationships, route advertisement, and path selection
- CCNA certification or equivalent practical networking knowledge
- Hands-on experience working through the Cisco IOS or NX-OS command line
- Strong understanding of subnetting, VLANs, IP addressing, and routing concepts
- Understanding of firewall rules, including source, destination, ports, actions, and security zones
- Exposure to Juniper Junos through professional work, lab experience, or certification study
- Experience supporting Palo Alto firewalls
- Basic scripting experience with Python, Bash, or a similar language
- Experience working with distributed or offshore engineering teams
- Data center experience, including device installation, cabling, or racking
- Familiarity with NetBox, Infoblox, or another IP address management platform
- Experience supporting F5 load balancers
- Self-directed approach to troubleshooting and completing assigned work
- Willingness to research technical issues through vendor documentation and other available resources before escalating
- Strong communication skills when coordinating across teams and time zones
- Careful documentation and validation of network changes
- Ability to recognize technical limits and escalate issues with clear supporting details
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with changing priorities and active infrastructure

- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $31.00 and $45.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
