Network Engineer – Automation (L2/L3)

Job Summary
Our client, a leading enterprise technology provider, is seeking an Advisor, IT Network Development to join their team, based 100% onsite in Apex, NC. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise network infrastructure while driving automation initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability, with a strong focus on Layer 2/Layer 3 switching technologies and network automation across data center and campus environments.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, with a focus on Layer 2/Layer 3 switching technologies
• Develop and implement network automation solutions to streamline provisioning, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Manage and optimize network performance, availability, and security across data center and campus environments
• Automate routine network operations using scripting and orchestration tools
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network integration and deployment efforts
• Maintain up-to-date network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures, and participate in change management and incident response initiatives

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of network engineering experience
• Strong expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 switching (VLANs, VRRP, MC-LAG, STP, VTP, PortChannel, and routing protocols such as OSPF/BGP)
• Network design and troubleshooting experience in enterprise environments
• Hands-on experience with network automation tools, including demonstrated proficiency in Python, Ansible, or similar scripting/automation frameworks
• Experience with REST APIs and network programmability concepts
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security fundamentals

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Familiarity with major networking platforms (e.g., Dell, Cisco, Arista, Juniper)
• Experience conducting vulnerability and security risk assessments of network assets
• Experience supporting global unified communications infrastructure
• Experience with capacity planning and data center server/storage installations
• Experience leading smaller or less complex projects, including project plans, budgets, and schedules

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $38.00 and $55.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
