Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in IBM Transformation Extender (IBM ITX) and ANSI X12 EDI to design, develop, and support enterprise integration solutions for the transportation and logistics industry. This role is ideal for an experienced integration engineer who excels at building scalable EDI solutions, developing IBM ITX maps, and supporting mission-critical B2B integrations with carriers, customers, and third-party logistics providers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who enjoys collaborating across business and engineering teams to deliver reliable, high-performance integration solutions.
Key Details:
- Contract: Contract position
- Location: Minneapolis, MN
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain IBM ITX maps and enterprise integration solutions
- Analyze business and EDI requirements and translate them into technical designs and IBM ITX mapping specifications
- Develop and maintain ANSI X12 transaction maps supporting transportation and logistics workflows
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing IBM ITX maps and integration processes
- Collaborate with business analysts, EDI analysts, solution architects, and trading partners to implement new integrations
- Perform impact analysis for new customer onboarding, trading partner updates, and regulatory changes
- Support production environments by diagnosing mapping failures, data validation issues, and transaction processing errors
- Develop reusable mapping components and establish IBM ITX development best practices
- Participate in code reviews, technical design sessions, and architecture discussions
- Develop unit tests and support System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production deployments
- Create and maintain technical documentation, mapping logic, and operational procedures
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance on IBM ITX and EDI best practices
- Ensure integration solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and operational standards
- 7+ years of software engineering experience developing enterprise integration solutions
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Transformation Extender (IBM ITX)
- Strong experience developing and maintaining IBM ITX maps
- Deep knowledge of ANSI X12 EDI standards
- Experience supporting transportation and logistics EDI transactions, including:
- 204 – Motor Carrier Load Tender
- 210 – Motor Carrier Freight Details and Invoice
- 214 – Transportation Carrier Shipment Status Message
- 990 – Response to Load Tender
- 997/999 – Functional Acknowledgments
- 820 – Payment Order/Remittance Advice
- 856 – Advance Ship Notice (preferred)
- Experience integrating using AS2, SFTP, FTP, MQ, REST APIs, or other B2B communication protocols
- Strong understanding of EDI validation, acknowledgments, ISA/GS/ST envelopes, and partner-specific implementation guides
- Experience troubleshooting production EDI issues and transaction failures
- Experience transforming XML, JSON, CSV, and flat-file data
- Experience using Git or other version control systems
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with Java, Python, or other scripting languages
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Transportation industry domain experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable integration solutions
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $50.00 and $55.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, experience, and location. We comply with all applicable local wage requirements.
