Senior Engineer
Job Summary
Our client, a leader in Travel, Tourism and Amusement Parks, is looking to add a Senior Engineer. This team is responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology and digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives. This role sits in the Retail & Restaurant Commerce Technology organization within this Company. The role works closely with a diverse team of engineers, business stakeholders, and service owners from across the company. The Senior Software Engineer will report to the Manager, Software Engineering.

Core Responsibilities
- Design and build software end-to-end — from writing technical specs to delivering well-documented, scalable, and maintainable applications, APIs, and RESTful Service components using Java and cloud-native patterns
- Integrate complex systems — connect applications across databases, messaging, and orchestration platforms, with hands-on experience in development, automated testing and troubleshooting issues from root cause to resolution
- Collaborate across teams — work closely with product and engineering partners to solve tough integration challenges and ensure solutions meet both current and future business needs
- Manage and support AWS infrastructure — keep production and lower environments running reliably, with hands-on expertise across AWS services
- Own dining and bookable experience reservation systems — deep knowledge of how inventory, availability, offers and reservations work, with a strong ability to spot and prevent overbooking issues before they affect guests
- Mentor and guide junior engineers — serve as the go-to technical resource on the team, providing guidance, code reviews, and hands-on support to help others grow
- Use AI tools to build faster — apply AI-powered development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Amazon Q, and Claude throughout the development lifecycle to improve speed and quality
- Partner with Release Management to provide technical delivery support and ensure smooth, well-coordinated releases
- Provide hands-on technical support to Systems Engineering (SE) and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams in resolving production and lower environment issues
- Document and preserve critical institutional knowledge to support platform stability and long-term team readiness
- Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of proven experience developing Java applications
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects at a time
- Ability to make quick decisions to tackle common technical and operational challenges
- Familiar working on projects with distributed teams, making use of technology and processes to overcome the challenges of working with remote staff
- Adapt to a fast-paced environment, and you are comfortable dealing with ambiguity
- Comfortable working in an agile environment
- Proficient in Java, Spring framework, Services design patterns and development, RESTful APIs, Cloud hosting, CI/CD, databases (DynamoDB, AuroraDB, MongoDB), Docker, GitHub, monitoring/logging tools (e.g. Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics).
- Knowledge in AI powered development tools, and a desire to develop further technical skills
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and scalable applications using Java, reusable components, and cloud-native patterns
- Experience with enterprise integrations, messaging, orchestration, and automated testing
- Strong analytical and collaboration skills to solve complex integration challenges and align across product and engineering teams

- Work Location: Lake Buena Visa, FL hybrid 3x a week.
- Duration: 6-month contract
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $60.00 and $85.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
