Our client, a leading energy provider, is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Administrator to join their team. This role leads the administration, governance, and continuous improvement of the organization's ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring it serves as a trusted source of configuration and service data through effective governance, data quality management, CSDM alignment, CI lifecycle management, and integration oversight. The Senior CMDB Administrator partners with infrastructure, application, cloud, asset, and service management teams to improve CMDB maturity, service visibility, and operational data integrity.
Contract Details
- Contract position lasting approximately 52 weeks with extension potential
- Contract dates: September 21, 2026–September 20, 2027
- Located in Oakland, California
- Hybrid schedule requiring onsite work one to two days per week
- Candidates must be local to the San Francisco Bay Area
- Administer, maintain, and optimize the ServiceNow CMDB platform, establishing and enforcing governance standards, policies, and CI lifecycle processes
- Lead and support implementation and adoption of the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM), building and maintaining relationships across business applications, application services, technical services, business services, and infrastructure components
- Administer and govern CI Classes using ServiceNow CI Class Manager, designing and optimizing CI class hierarchies while preventing unnecessary customization
- Configure and maintain Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) rules, leading efforts to eliminate duplicate and conflicting CI records and troubleshoot identification and reconciliation issues
- Support and optimize ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping processes, working with integration teams to onboard new CMDB data sources and validate mappings
- Monitor and improve CMDB Health metrics (completeness, correctness, compliance), developing scorecards and leading data remediation and cleansing initiatives
- Serve as the primary CMDB subject matter expert, partnering with Infrastructure, Cloud, Application, Asset Management, Security, and IT Service Management teams
- 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow experience, including 3+ years of dedicated CMDB administration in a large enterprise environment
- Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting the ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM)
- Strong hands-on experience with CI Class Manager, Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE), CMDB Data Model, CI Relationships, CMDB Health, and Data Certification
- Experience developing and enforcing CMDB governance processes and managing CI lifecycle and data quality initiatives
- Experience supporting ServiceNow Discovery implementations and troubleshooting CMDB integrations and reconciliation issues
- Strong understanding of ITIL Configuration Management processes
- Ability to analyze complex service and infrastructure dependencies
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA); CIS – Discovery; CIS – Service Mapping
- Experience with ServiceNow ITOM and supporting Service Mapping implementations
- Experience supporting CMDB environments integrated with Azure or AWS
- Experience integrating enterprise tools such as SCCM/MECM, Tanium, VMware, SolarWinds, Dynatrace, or Flexera
- Experience using ServiceNow Data Certification and developing CMDB scorecards and operational reporting
- Experience in regulated utility, energy, healthcare, or financial environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders and establish sustainable governance practices
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across infrastructure, cloud, application, security, and service-management teams
- Continuous-improvement mindset with the ability to drive CMDB maturity and transformation initiatives
- Location: Oakland, CA — local candidates ONLY
- Hybrid: Onsite 1–2 days per week as required
- Candidates must be local to the San Francisco Bay Area
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $54.00 and $78.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
