Laboratory Technician

Job Summary
Our client, a leading manufacturing and research provider, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support product research, development, and manufacturing operations. This role involves preparing and evaluating laboratory-scale samples, performing testing, maintaining equipment, and documenting results to support technical and operational decisions.

Core Responsibilities

• Generate, process, and evaluate laboratory-scale samples to support customer needs, research initiatives, product development, and manufacturing programs
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory and processing equipment used for testing, production support, and equipment scale-up activities
• Conduct laboratory testing and evaluations to provide accurate, timely results for technical and operational decision-making
• Maintain accurate documentation, including equipment logs, laboratory notebooks, test records, and electronic files
• Perform internet and literature searches to support technical problem-solving and project requirements
• Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements, standard operating procedures, Responsible Care principles, and site-specific guidelines
• Collaborate with manufacturing, research, and cross-functional teams while managing multiple assignments and priorities

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• Experience performing laboratory, process, or product testing in a research, manufacturing, or technical environment
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot laboratory or processing equipment
• Strong documentation, organization, and recordkeeping skills
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and established safety protocols
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience supporting product research, development, or manufacturing operations
• Familiarity with laboratory-scale sample preparation and evaluation
• Experience maintaining laboratory or processing equipment
• Knowledge of equipment scale-up activities and production support
• Experience conducting technical literature and online research
• Familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and Responsible Care principles
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical teams and multiple supervisors

Work Environment

• Location: Ames, IA
• Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
• Environment: Research laboratory and manufacturing support setting requiring adherence to safety procedures and proper equipment handling

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $16.00 and $23.30 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
