This role focuses on operating and maintaining Redis caching services across VM and Kubernetes environments while contributing to automation, troubleshooting, and system reliability. Our client is seeking a Platform Engineer – Data Platforms to support and enhance shared data services within a Platform Engineering team. This role focuses on operating and maintaining Redis caching services across VM and Kubernetes environments while contributing to automation, troubleshooting, and system reliability. The engineer will gain hands-on experience with distributed caching technologies and help improve application performance, scalability, and resilience across enterprise systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Support deployment and maintenance of Redis and caching services across VM and Kubernetes environments
- Assist with installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Redis instances and related caching components
- Help deploy and manage workloads in Kubernetes using Helm charts
- Monitor system and cache performance, respond to alerts, and escalate issues when needed
- Execute operational runbooks for upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities
- Contribute to automation efforts using Ansible and basic scripting (Bash/Python)
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot application, caching, and platform issues
- Maintain and update technical documentation, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Foundational knowledge of Linux system administration
- Some experience working with virtual machines or server environments
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes (pods, services, deployments)
- Exposure to configuration management or automation tools such as Ansible
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or similar
- Basic understanding of caching concepts (key-value stores, cache invalidation, performance optimization)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and troubleshoot effectively
- Exposure to Redis or similar in-memory caching technologies
- Experience using Helm or deploying applications in Kubernetes environments
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools
- Understanding of performance tuning or scalability concepts
- Relevant coursework, certifications, or internship experience in IT or software engineering
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced platform environment
- Attention to detail in operational and system tasks
- Ability to follow runbooks and structured processes
- Collaborative team player with clear communication skills
- Proactive attitude toward automation and process improvement

- Schedule: Full-time onsite (standard business hours assumed unless otherwise stated)
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $53.00 and $75.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
