Our client is seeking a QA Automation Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated test frameworks for cloud-based services and UI applications using Node.js, TypeScript, Mocha, and Playwright. The role includes validating GraphQL APIs and real-time systems (MQTT, WebSockets, SSE), supporting Docker-based deployments, and ensuring quality across CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins). Responsibilities also include debugging across distributed systems using logs and observability tools, collaborating on bug triage and test design, supporting Android automation (Appium), and improving test efficiency through AI-driven tooling.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, test, and maintain automated tests
- Lead efforts in drafting test scenarios and writing tests to cover functional use cases for each feature
- Collaborate with teams across to triage bugs and investigate failures in various environments
- Monitor and maintain test pipelines, and use observability tools and test logs to identify and fix failures
- Clearly communicate bugs and proactively initiate discussions to aid issue discovery and resolution
- Leverage cutting-edge AI tools to enhance the development workflow and improve delivery velocity
- Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with experience using test frameworks such as Mocha
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining UI test automation frameworks, particularly Playwright
- Experience testing GraphQL APIs, including complex query validation and test coverage
- Experience testing real-time/pub-sub systems such as MQTT, WebSockets, or SSE
- Working knowledge of cloud environments and containerized deployments (Docker, container registries)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and Git-based workflows
- Ability to analyze logs across distributed systems to debug failures and trace issues
- Experience using Jira or similar tools for issue tracking and defect management
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools to improve testing efficiency and delivery speed
- Familiarity with Android test automation frameworks, such as Appium
- Exposure to observability tools (logging, tracing, monitoring systems for distributed applications)
- Experience working in large-scale microservices environments with complex service interactions
- Broader experience across multiple CI/CD platforms beyond a single toolchain
- Experience building or scaling automation frameworks and test architecture, not just writing tests
- Strong familiarity with event-driven and real-time data systems in production environments

- Location: Remote, in United States
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $40 and $48. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
