This individual will assist with developing, testing, and verifying an internal Python-based data analysis package while supporting software quality assurance initiatives in a regulated environment. Our client, a leading Life Sciences organization, is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to join their team. This individual will assist with developing, testing, and verifying an internal Python-based data analysis package while supporting software quality assurance initiatives in a regulated environment. This is a contract position located in Indianola, Pennsylvania.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and test Python-based data analysis packages for internal distribution
- Design, write, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases to ensure software quality and reliability
- Build and support non-interactive and batch Python scripts for data processing workflows
- Collaborate with software developers to validate functionality, identify defects, and ensure adherence to software development best practices
- Create and maintain QA documentation, including test plans, test summary reports, coverage reports, and other validation documentation
- Participate in code reviews, pull requests, and GitHub-based development workflows
- Troubleshoot software issues using modern IDEs and debugging tools while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 8+ years of QA experience, preferably within a regulated industry, including manual and automated testing
- 5+ years of Python development experience, including building and testing Python packages for distribution
- 3+ years of Git experience, including Git CLI, GitHub pull request workflows, branching strategies, and GitHub Actions
- 3+ years of experience using modern IDEs such as PyCharm, VS Code, or similar development environments
- Strong experience with Python libraries including pandas, numpy, scipy, matplotlib, seaborn, openpyxl, pytest, and related tools
- Experience designing comprehensive test cases with clear rationale for test coverage and execution
- Experience writing and reviewing documentation within a regulated industry
- Experience creating QA documentation such as test summary reports and coverage reports
- Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams
- Working knowledge of Bash scripting and Linux command-line tools
- Experience using Jira and Confluence for Agile project management and documentation
- Understanding of software architecture and system design principles
- Strong knowledge of Python best practices and clean, maintainable coding standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail with a quality-first mindset
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Location: Indianola, PA
- Work Arrangement: On-site
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $55.00 and $68.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
