Our client, a leading energy and utility organization, is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Threat Analyst/Specialist to monitor, investigate, and respond to cybersecurity threats. This role focuses on threat hunting, malware and phishing analysis, forensic investigations, and the administration of security tools to strengthen the organization's overall security posture.
Contract Details
- Contract Length: 6 month
- Location: Concord, CA
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Local candidates only
- Equipment will be provided by the supplier
Core Responsibilities
- Monitor daily cybersecurity activity and determine whether identified behavior is malicious or benign.
- Analyze malware and escalate confirmed or suspected threats to incident response teams.
- Conduct threat-hunting activities using utility peer intelligence and other internal and external intelligence sources.
- Investigate phishing cases and reports of potential security compromises or breaches.
- Perform forensic analysis using security tools and monitoring systems to identify the source of anomalous events.
- Administer, customize, and integrate cybersecurity tools across the security environment.
- Conduct security research and develop strategies for implementing departmental initiatives.
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working within a Security Operations Center or cybersecurity monitoring and response environment
- Hands-on experience monitoring, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity events
- Experience investigating malware, phishing attempts, and potential security compromises
- Proficiency with threat hunting and security intelligence analysis
- Experience performing forensic analysis using security monitoring tools
- Ability to administer, customize, or integrate cybersecurity tools
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline
- Relevant information security certification
- Experience supporting a 24x7 security operations environment
- Knowledge of threat intelligence and intelligence-driven security investigations
- Experience developing metrics and reporting that support vulnerability management, patching, antivirus, firewall management, or risk-assessment programs
- Experience collaborating with incident response and other technical IT teams
- Utility, energy, or critical-infrastructure cybersecurity experience

Work Environment
- Location: Concord, California
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Schedule: Onsite Tuesday through Thursday; remote Monday and Friday
- Work hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $63.00 and $90.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
