Job Summary
Our accounting and professional services client is seeking an Associate Platform Administrator to join their Information Technology team. This role is responsible for the administration, configuration, and optimization of the Databricks platform to support data analytics, machine learning, and data engineering activities. The ideal candidate will have a data engineering background with interest in cloud and platform administration. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity offering growth, flexibility, and a collaborative work environment.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of Databricks clusters
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability
  • Implement and enforce security best practices and compliance standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data solutions
  • Provide advanced user support and training
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for platform administration
  • Manage and maintain role-based access to data and features in Databricks using Unity Catalog
  • Implement external access controls for outside teams using service principals, SQL warehouses, and Delta Sharing
  • Ensure unused assets are tracked for pruning
  • Implement service principals and access tokens for external users
  • Create queries and dashboards to monitor critical systems and processes
  • Automate common admin tasks using Databricks notebooks
  • Manage workflow tags, cluster tags, and workflow naming convention enforcement
  • Perform cluster health checks and implement best practices
  • Perform regular backup and recovery
  • Perform privilege reviews on users and resources
  • Provide training to junior team members and act as a point of escalation for complex questions and issues
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
  • 1+ years of relevant experience working with Databricks
  • Team would prefer someone with a data engineering background
  • Understanding of data engineering needs
  • Experience with Databricks administration and workspace management
  • Understanding of Azure infrastructure required by Databricks
  • Strong SQL skills for creating admin-related queries and dashboards
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience using GitHub to manage source code
  • Experience with compliance audits and audit documentation
  • Proficiency in Spark, Python, and SQL
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Databricks Certifications
  • Experience with Synapse and Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Experience with Databricks APIs and tools like Postman
  • Familiarity with Terraform
  • Knowledge of APIs and integrations
  • Experience with Azure Entra ID
  • Experience with OBO flows and identity providers such as Okta
  • Familiarity with Dynatrace
  • Ability to perform risk analysis for third-party integrations with Azure resources

Work Environment 
  • Location: Remote- Must be US BASED
Compensation & Benefits 
  • Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $50 and 69 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
