Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Security Engineer - Fastly CDN to join their team! This position is remote. 
 
Duties:
  • Provide security and technical expertise to design, implement, and support security configurations—including Fastly CDN configurations, custom VCL logic, and Terraform-managed resources—to meet business requirements
  • Analyze, build, operate, and administer security policies to control physical and virtual system access and configurations across edge computing and cloud platforms
  • Identify and investigate security issues using dashboards, alerting systems, and configuration management tools to develop compliant, risk-mitigating solutions
  • Develop and implement detection mechanisms such as: Fastly security features, custom VCL, automated Terraform deployments, to identify security incidents and enhance compliance with standards and procedures
  • Assess business role requirements, review authorization roles, and support authorization integrations across edge security platforms
  • Demonstrate expertise in testing authorizations across multiple environments such as: on-premises, cloud, and edge, coordinating testing with business and technical stakeholders
  • Define and validate system configurations using automation tools such as: Terraform checks, to ensure protection of information assets
  • Implement information security best practices including access control, system hardening, audit/log monitoring, security policy enforcement, and incident handling
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with loss prevention, legal, networking, DevOps to deploy secure and automated edge solutions
  • Identify security gaps across CDN, WAF, and API management layers and develop prioritized remediation strategies
  • Develop and execute security controls, defenses, and countermeasures to prevent internal and external threats
  • Establish network behavior analysis strategies and implement observability and orchestration tools
  • Anticipate and resolve technical issues, evaluate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and edge platforms, and implement scalable, secure solutions
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in systems security policies, standards, protocols, and technologies, with emphasis on CDN and Next-Generation WAF
  • Create dashboards, configure alerts, and support security platforms for monitoring and protection
  • Streamline processes through automation, scripting, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain incident response playbooks, including automated remediation scenarios
  • Triage, prioritize, investigate, and coordinate security incidents
  • Support internal and external audits by providing regulatory compliance evidence
  • Design, configure, and maintain security controls across diverse environments
  • Partner with stakeholders and Security Architects to implement automated, scalable security solutions aligned with business needs
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Security Engineering, including edge computing and Fastly
  • Experience with WAFs and CDNs such as Akamai and Fastly
  • Background in offensive security: penetration testing and ethical hacking
  • Experience securing applications hosted in public cloud environments 
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming such as: Python, JavaScript, Java, SQL, Terraform, VCL for automation and tool development
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, and web application security
  • Extensive experience with security tools and frameworks such as: Kasada, Microsoft DFP, BloodHound and Cobalt Strike
  • Proven experience conducting secure code reviews
  • Strong passion for cybersecurity and commitment to staying current with emerging threats
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, Network+, CCNA, GSEC, CISA, CISSP
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards such as HIPAA, SOX, and PCI
  • Experience in DevOps or DevSecOps environments

The approximate pay range for this position is between $65.00 and $94.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
