Cloud Platform Engineer I

Job Summary
Our client, a leading energy and utility provider, is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer I to join their team. This is a 26-week contract position in Oakland, CA, from October 19, 2026, through April 17, 2027. The role is hybrid and requires one day onsite per week. The engineer will support AWS infrastructure, deployment automation, platform reliability, security, and production operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimize AWS infrastructure using services such as EKS, ECS, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, IAM, and RDS
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and Terraform
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and operational processes through Infrastructure as Code
• Monitor platform health, troubleshoot production issues, and improve observability and resilience
• Remediate vulnerabilities, support platform upgrades, and maintain security compliance
• Partner with development teams to streamline deployments and improve engineering productivity
• Support disaster recovery readiness, AWS cost optimization, and cloud governance initiatives

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)

• 5+ years of DevOps, cloud engineering, or site reliability engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with AWS, including EKS, ECS, Lambda, IAM, S3, and RDS
• Experience with Terraform, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code
• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of cloud security, vulnerability management, and DevSecOps practices
• Strong troubleshooting and production support experience

Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise AWS platforms
• Familiarity with Couchbase
• Experience with cloud-native microservices architectures
• AWS DevOps Engineer Professional or a related certification
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: To be confirmed. The approximate pay range for this position is between $49.00 and $70.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
