Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Lead Software Asset Manager to join their enterprise IT organization! This position is fully remote and aligned to Central Time hours. The role is focused on leading Software Asset Management (SAM) initiatives across the enterprise, helping optimize software licensing, reduce compliance risk, and improve operational efficiency through strong governance and process implementation.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide Software Asset Management (SAM) strategies and best practices
  • Lead software asset tracking initiatives and ensure accurate recording, reporting, and lifecycle management of technology assets
  • Construct and optimize SAM-related business processes, governance models, and operational policies
  • Monitor software license usage, compliance terms, and contractual obligations while proactively identifying and remediating anomalies
  • Drive the integration of SAM processes within the existing ITSM framework and maximize the organization’s ServiceNow investment
  • Partner cross-functionally with IT, procurement, operations, and leadership teams to improve software governance and visibility
  • Develop and implement KPIs, reporting metrics, and tracking mechanisms to measure process effectiveness and operational efficiency
  • Provide reporting and strategic updates to digital and IT leadership regarding SAM initiatives, compliance posture, and optimization opportunities
  • Maintain strong knowledge of enterprise business processes to recommend practical, scalable, and efficient asset management solutions
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts related to software licensing controls, audits, reporting accuracy, and operational governance
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), or related enterprise IT operations roles
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, compliance management, and software audit processes
  • Experience developing and implementing enterprise SAM governance processes and operational frameworks
  • Hands-on experience working within ITSM environments and integrating SAM processes into enterprise workflows
  • Strong experience with ServiceNow, particularly within ITSM, ITAM, or SAM-related modules
  • Experience tracking and managing software licensing usage, renewals, compliance risks, and optimization opportunities
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and process improvement skills
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical teams, leadership, vendors, and business stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently while leading initiatives across large enterprise environments
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide SAM transformation or optimization initiatives
  • Experience with hardware asset management processes in addition to software asset management
  • Exposure to vendor management, contract negotiations, or procurement processes
  • Experience supporting software compliance audits and remediation activities
  • Knowledge of enterprise governance, risk, and compliance practices
  • Experience developing dashboards, reporting metrics, or executive-level operational reporting
  • Exposure to ITIL methodologies or enterprise process frameworks
  • Experience within large enterprise utility, energy, or Fortune 500 environments

Compensation & Benefits 
  • Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $42.00 and $61.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
