Job Summary
Our Media & Entertainment client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their team! This role is a highly skilled Kubernetes-focused professional tasked to design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available systems in a high-traffic enterprise environment. This role emphasizes deep expertise in Kubernetes infrastructure (not just tools like Rancher), along with strong cloud automation and AWS provisioning experience.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design, deploy, and maintain production-grade Kubernetes clusters (primarily EKS)
  • Respond to production incidents and perform root cause analysis
  • Operate highly available, high-traffic production systems
  • Manage cluster lifecycle operations: upgrades, node scaling, HA configurations, disaster recovery
  • Configure and optimize: networking, ingress controllers, service mesh/load balancing, storage classes, RBAC/security policies
  • Troubleshoot Kubernetes issues involving: pods, networking, DNS, resource constraints, autoscaling, cluster performance
  • Support multi-environment Kubernetes platforms (dev/stage/prod)
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (flexible based on skill level)
  • Strong hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters
  • Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture (networking, scaling, security, etc.)
  • Experience using Rancher as a Kubernetes orchestration platform
  • Must understand the underlying Kubernetes infrastructure, not just the interface
  • Familiarity with core AWS services (EKS, EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, etc.)
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible (nice to have but valuable)
  • Ability to automate infrastructure, deployments, and operational workflows
  • Strong experience with enterprise consumer and employee-facing systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot applications and distributed systems
  • Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, etc.)
  • SQL and Oracle database technologies
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Relevant certifications are a plus
  • Strong experience provisioning AWS resources using Terraform preferred
  • Experience in cruise industry or other high-availability, customer-centric environments
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift
  • Familiarity with ITIL or IT service management frameworks

Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $52.00 and $73.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
